How many AI companion call minutes do you need? Start with the length of a call you would enjoy, then multiply by how often you expect to call. Three five-minute conversations each week use about 60 minutes in a four-week period. One ten-minute conversation each week uses about 40.
You do not need to talk every day to enjoy an AI companion. A short check-in after work and a longer conversation on the weekend are different habits. Your plan should fit the habit you actually want.

Estimate your AI companion call minutes
Use this calculation before choosing a subscription:
Minutes per call × calls per week × 4 = minutes for four weeks.
The examples below are planning estimates, not Elle membership plans. A calendar month can contain more than four weeks, so leave room for extra days.
| Calling habit | Call length | Four-week total |
|---|---|---|
| One short call each week | 5 minutes | 20 minutes |
| One longer call each week | 10 minutes | 40 minutes |
| Three short calls each week | 5 minutes | 60 minutes |
| One short call every day | 2 minutes | 56 minutes |
| One ten-minute call every day | 10 minutes | 280 minutes |
The daily ten-minute habit is easy to underestimate. Across a 30-day month, it uses 300 minutes. Compare that number with the actual voice allowance before you pay.
Use AI companion call minutes for quick check-ins or longer calls
A two- or three-minute call might be enough to share a small win, talk about your morning, or mention something funny that happened. A conversation about your favorite movie, a weekend project, or the details of your day may take longer.
Neither style is better. If you dislike watching a timer, budget for the longer conversations you prefer. If you only want an occasional hello, a large voice allowance may go unused.

Check what the allowance actually covers
Before purchasing any AI companion subscription, look for clear answers to these questions:
- Does the plan include live voice conversations, text messages, or both?
- When does the call timer start and stop?
- Are minutes counted by the second or rounded up?
- What happens when the allowance runs out?
- Can you buy extra minutes, and what do they cost?
- Do unused minutes expire or roll over?
- When does the allowance renew, and how do you cancel?
Do not assume a text allowance includes voice time. Likewise, do not assume unused minutes carry into the next billing period. Read the specific plan terms. For the wider picture, see AI girlfriend pricing models explained.
Compare the cost of the AI companion call minutes you expect to use
A hypothetical $20 subscription with 100 included voice minutes works out to $0.20 per included minute. But if you use only 20 minutes, you have paid $1 per minute actually used. Those figures describe the voice calculation only; a subscription may include other features you value.
Compare plans using your likely usage, not just the largest advertised allowance. If your expected calls exceed the included time, add the necessary top-up cost before comparing totals. These are illustrative numbers, not current Elle prices.
What does an Elle AI companion phone call cost?
Elle does not list a separate charge for each call. The live plans currently include a monthly voice allowance: Basic costs $14.99 for 10 included minutes, Plus costs $29.99 for 30, and Premium costs $59.99 for 60. Current subscribers can add 15 minutes for $14.99; that top-up applies only to the current subscription period and expires at renewal.
Dividing price by included minutes gives about $1.50 per minute on Basic and about $1.00 on Plus or Premium. The top-up is also about $1.00 per minute. That arithmetic is only a planning tool: every plan also lists conversational SMS, eligible MMS subject to safety controls, shared memory across calls and texts when enabled, and a secure Access PIN. Check the live Pricing page before choosing because published prices and inclusions can change.
Use effective cost, not advertised cost
If you choose Plus but use only 10 minutes, your effective subscription cost is about $3.00 per voice minute used—even though the nominal included-minute rate is about $1.00. If you use all 30 minutes, the nominal and effective rate are roughly the same. Choose the smallest plan that comfortably covers your realistic routine, then adjust after seeing actual usage.
Subscriber enrollment remains in final pre-launch validation. See How It Works and Get Started for the current access status.
Let text and voice serve different moments
You might prefer a text for a quick update and a call when you have time to settle into a conversation. That can make a smaller voice allowance a better fit, provided the service’s texting limits also meet your needs.
Choose the channel that feels comfortable. You should not feel pressure to keep calling just to use an allowance. Learn more about voice calls versus text chat.

Frequently asked questions
Is 30 minutes enough for a month?
It can cover six five-minute calls or three ten-minute calls. It will not cover a five-minute call every day. Whether it is enough depends on how often you want to talk.
How much time does a daily two-minute call need?
It uses 60 minutes in a 30-day month and 62 minutes in a 31-day month, before any provider-specific rounding or billing rules.
Should I choose the largest plan first?
Base the decision on your expected routine, the plan terms, and the cost of any extra time. A larger allowance is useful only if you expect to use it or value the other included features.
